As for the physical act of intercourse, timing is everything, as there are generally about six days in which you can get pregnant; the egg and sperm both have to be available at the same time for fertilization to occur, and the optimum window of opportunity is the five days before you ovulate, and one day after.

Knowing your exact ovulation time is critical, and fertility monitors or ovulation predictors can be of great assistance. If you don't want to spend the money on one of these kits, a good rule of thumb is to try to conceive every other day after the 8th day of your cycle, continuing this pattern through to your twentieth day.

I Want A Baby Now

For women who have been trying to conceive but who haven't been immediately successful, frustration can set in quickly, especially with the knowledge that it gets harder to get pregnant with each month that goes by.

The good news is that there are a number of infertility treatments that are available and that are highly effective, and more technologies and procedures are being discovered every day.

From taking fertility drugs to artificial insemination to in vitro fertilization, success rates continue to rise, and even women who have conditions that have previously prevented pregnancy can be optimistic.

Physicians and fertility experts all say that too many women are worrying prematurely about infertility; just because you are over twenty five does not mean that you are automatically going to have a problem getting pregnant.

The best thing that you can do once you've decided that you want to have a baby is relax and enjoy this happy time in your life. If after a year you have not successfully conceived, make an appointment with your physician to explore the possible reasons and the options available to you.

I Want A Baby!

Unlike our mothers' generation, most women today are waiting a while before they try to have a baby; whether it's because we want to get further along in our education or career, or we have traveling we want to do with our partner before settling down, or even if it's because the economy has caused us to delay a lot of our personal milestones, most women aren't trying to conceive until they're in their mid twenties or beyond.

Though all of these reasons for delay make perfect sense, the downside is that a delay in trying to have a baby may make getting pregnant a more challenging proposition; that's because as we age, our bodies become a bit less fertile. Once a woman turns 27 years old her number of eggs does not diminish but the chances of releasing them does, and fertility starts to decrease. If you are one of those who are finding that it is taking you a little longer to get pregnant than you had anticipated, you're not alone.

I Want A Baby So Bad

If you're
trying to get pregnant and are finding it isn't happening as quickly as you'd hoped, the first thing you need to do is make sure that you're doing everything you can to maximize your fertility.

First, make sure that you are in your best possible physical condition, cutting out smoking and alcohol, getting plenty of sleep and doing moderate exercise. If you're overweight, it might be helpful to lose a few pounds, but if your body weight is healthy make sure that you don't over exercise - women often stop ovulating when their body mass index falls too low. Be sure that you are taking a good multi vitamin too.
